Lady Riders Golf Team takes League Finals Title

The Lady Riders Golf Team took home the team championship in the City 2 Division this past Wednesday at Arroyo Seco Golf Course improving their record to 12-3. The Lady Riders were led by sophomores Evelyn Garcia and Zuleima Tenorio, who turned in scores of 38 and 43, respectively. The scores were good enough to net each player 1st and 3rd place honors in individual play, which led the Lady Riders to a school record score of 213. The other scorecards turned in were by Seniors Crystal Castillo (44) and Liza Lopez (46), as well as junior Cindy Alvarez (42). Karina Plascencia rounded out the scoring with a score of 50. Congratulations Lady Riders!
Lady Riders Beat Bulldogs to End Golf Season

The Lady Riders Golf Team wrapped up their most successful year ever by beating the Lady Bulldogs this past Monday, October 19th at Monterey Park and ended the season with a 9-3 record. The Lady Riders were once again led by Senior Crystal Castillo and Sophomore Evelyn Garcia. Both Crystal and Evelyn played a city finals qualifying round this past Thursday at Alhambra Golf Course but fell just short of making it to the city finals, which takes the top 40 girls in the city. We are confident that Evelyn will be amongst that elite group next year if she continues to work hard. Thank for you for a great season Lady Riders, but most importantly for being such a close-knit team!
Lady Riders Shoot Lowest Score this Season at Monterey Park and Beat Franklin, 236-262

The Lady Riders Golf Team continued its quest for their best record ever by beating the Franklin Panthers by a score of 236 to 262. The win guarantees the Lady Riders sole possession of 2nd place in league and improved their record to 7 wins and 3 losses, with all losses coming to league powerhouse Marshall High School. The Lady Riders were once again led by playing partners Evelyn Garcia (40) and Crystal Castillo (46). Crystal scored a par on holes #3, 4, and 5, while Evelyn warmed up by parring holes #4, 5, 6, & 7. Evelyn hit the green on #8 but was at the back of the green and 3-putted the hole for a bogie 4. Other notable scores were turned in by Cindy Alvarez (46), Zuleima Tenorio's 48, and Karina Plascencia's 52. The Lady Riders will end their play with games against Garfield (Monday, Oct 19) and Marshall (22nd). Both matches will be played at Monterey Park Golf Course. Hit 'em straight Lady Riders!
Lady Riders Streak Halted by Marshall Barristers, 181-202

Although the Lady Riders Golf Team scored the lowest score ever in competition, a combined score of 202, it was still not enough to beat Marshall, who was led by all-city Golfer Jennifer Chen. The Lady Riders improved from a score of 223 the last time they played Marshall at Los Feliz Golf Course. The Lady Rider were once again led by Evelyn Garcia and Liza Lopez, who both netted scores of 37. Rounding out the scoring was Crystal Castillo (40), Cindy Alvarez (41), Zuleima Tenorio (47), and Karina Plascencia (52). Cindy Alvarez was the only Lady Rider to birdie a hole, which she did on hole #8 . Liza scored a par on holes #2, 6, and 8, while playing partner Crystal mark down a par on hole #7. Evelyn and Zuleima both ended up with a par on the finish hole, #9 at Los Feliz Golf Course. Good scoring Lady Riders, we just need to be more consistent throughout our round in order to beat the Barristers on our final try.
Lady Bulldogs no Match for Improving Lady Riders Golf Team

The Lady Riders Golf Team improved to a record of 5 wins and 2 losses after beating the Lady Bulldogs by a score of 244-266 and pulled within one game of the league lead. The team was led by sophomore Evelyn Garcia, who penciled in a solid round of 41. Evelyn hit 5 of 9 greens in regulation and played a steady game throughout, hitting the ball within ten feet on holes #3, 6, 7, and 8. Evelyn could not get her putter to finish off the birdie putts. Freshman Karina Plascencia also struggled with the putter but was hitting the ball straight all day after making a change in her grip. Seniors Crystal Castillo and Liza Lopez were both off their game and penciled 51 and 49, respectively. Rounding out the scoring was Cindy Alvarez's 51 and Zuleima Tenorio's 54. Zuleima hit a beautiful pitch shot and putt on hole #3 at Monterey Park Golf Course and ended up with a par on that hole. Great job Lady Riders, good luck on Monday versus league leader, Marshall High School.
