Italy, 1992
An 18-year old girl is picked up by her married 45-year old driving instructor for her very first lesson. He takes her to an isolated road, pulls her out of the car, wrestles her out of one leg of her jeans and forcefully rapes her. Threatened with death if she tells anyone, he makes her drive the car home. Later that night she tells her parents, and they help and support her to press charges. The perpetrator gets arrested and is prosecuted. He is convicted of rape and sentenced to jail.

Willie Davis, Roosevelt High School Class of 1958 & Former L.A. Dodger Star Dies
Willie Davis, who succeeded Duke Snider as the center fielder for the Los Angeles Dodgers and used his blazing speed to steal 20 or more bases 11 straight years, led the National League in triples twice and set a record of three stolen bases in a World Series game, was found dead on Tuesday at his home in Burbank, Calif. He was 69.

Rough Riders Split First Two Games in Las Vegas Tournament
The varsity baseball team went up to Las Vegas and came out swinging against Desert Valley High School and trounced them 18-4 in the first game of the tournament. The Riders then took on host Centennial High School and lost 12-7 to end the first day of the tournament 1-1. in Tuesday's game, the Riders jumped to an early 5-0 lead, only to lose it and eventually succumb to Legacy High School by a score of 18-8. Remember that the Rough Riders will return to action for three games during the week of April 5th against South East, Garfield, and Jordan High Schools. Garfield Principal and Staff Serve Lunch to Rough Riders
Garfield High School's principal, Mr. Summe, followed through with the friendly bet made in advance of this year's East LA Classic. True to his word, Mr. Summe dropped by Roosevelt's Cafeteria and he and his staff served lunch to the Rough Rider students on Tuesday, November 10 after his Bulldogs were defeated on November 6th, 28-16 by our Mighty Rough Riders.

The RHS class of 1989 reunion is scheduled for Saturday, November 21, 2009.
The event will be held at the 3rd Street Lounge in Downtown LA.

Lady Riders Golf Team takes League Finals Title
The Lady Riders Golf Team took home the team championship in the City 2 Division this past Wednesday at Arroyo Seco Golf Course improving their record to 12-3. The Lady Riders were led by sophomores Evelyn Garcia and Zuleima Tenorio, who turned in scores of 38 and 43, respectively. The scores were good enough to net each player 1st and 3rd place honors in individual play, which led the Lady Riders to a school record score of 213. The other scorecards turned in were by Seniors Crystal Castillo (44) and Liza Lopez (46), as well as junior Cindy Alvarez (42). Karina Plascencia rounded out the scoring with a score of 50. Congratulations Lady Riders!
